The liberalization of the long-distance bus market on January 1st, 2013, led to a rapid growth of this business. One of the most affected cities was Frankfurt/Main as there were only a limited number of local but inadequately equipped stops available. In a first step, the number of services in the long-distance transport was recorded. Based on this, passengers of long-distance busses were surveyed on their infrastructure preferences. As aresult, traffiQ developed a passenger communication concept for better orientation and faster finding of the stops. Beyond this and together with the local traffic authority, the parking area was enlarged and the municipal passenger transport displaced. So, the operation of the long-distance busses could be arranged more effectively even without the complex construction of a central terminal.
