Abstract

National, regional, and local governments in Western Europa, Canada, and the USA have been promoting bicycling for daily trips as a healthy and sustainable mode of transport. Compared to public transport and driving, bicycling is inexpensive, causes almost no air or noise pollution, and takes up little space.
