Abstract

Wenn ein renommiertes Forschungsinstitut 40 Jahre alt wird, gilt es nicht nur einen Blick zurück zu werfen, sondern vor allem auch in die Zukunft zu schauen. Mit dem Symposium "Zukunft der Stadt: Neue Herausforderungen brauchen neue Lösungen" am 3. September 2013 in Berlin hat sich das Deutsche Institut für Urbanistik (Difu) in erster Linie für einen Blick nach vorne entschieden. Der Vergangenheit soll hier nur kurz Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt werden. Wesentliche Meilensteine finden sich anlässlich des zehnjährigen Bestehens des Difu in der Rede von Günter Samtlebe (damals Mitglied des Trägervereins des Difu) sowie der Publikation "25 Jahre Difu - eine aussichtsreiche Geschichte".When a prestigious research institute gets to be 40 years old, it is not only necessary to take a look back, but above all to take a look forward into the future. With the symposium "Future of the town: new challenges need new solutions", which took place on September 3, 2013 in Berlin, the German Institute for Urban -Affairs (Deutsches Institut für Urbanistik, Difu) clearly decided in favor of a look forward. In this article, attention to the past is covered very briefly. Essential milestones about the past can be found in Günter Samtlebes (at that time member of the supporting association of Difu) talk celebrating Difu's first ten years of existence as well as appearing in the publication "25 years Difu - a promising concern".
